
B Sleepy is a brand rooted in a deeply personal and transformative experience. When the founder, Charlie, witnessed the calming effects of amethyst crystals during his partner Sam’s battle with a life-threatening tumour, it sparked the creation of B Sleepy. This brand is on a mission to extend the peace and healing power of crystals to others through their revolutionary amethyst-infused pillow, with 100% of profits supporting cancer charities. I was tasked with bringing this powerful story to life through a new brand identity, packaging design, brand guidelines and rolling it all out across different areas. The heart of B Sleepy’s Amethyst identity is the amethyst crystal. Amethyst is revered for promoting relaxation and aiding restful sleep, and I wanted to capture that essence in every aspect of the brand.
But beyond just the crystal itself, the entire concept took inspiration from the intricate patterns found in crystal grids and honeycomb structures, to give a nod to B Sleepys’ name. During my research, I discovered a fascinating connection between bees and crystals. Raw honey, for example, has been linked to better sleep due to the production of melatonin—the sleep hormone. Even more incredible is that the “stingless” bees, a specific species of tropical bees, build their honeycombs in a spiral, using the same mathematical model that scientists have discovered also explains how crystals grow! This insight became the driving force behind the design.
By combining the natural patterns of honeycombs and the geometric precision of crystal grids, I was able to create a visual language that aligns perfectly with B Sleepy’s existing brand and its connection to crystal healing. The use of warm tones like soft yellows and oranges creates a sense of calm and serenity, while also providing a subtle contrast to the rich purple of amethyst. This allowed me to use purple sparingly, as an accent color, ensuring it still stood out while keeping the overall aesthetic warm and inviting.
These patterns and colour choices come together to form a brand that feels deeply rooted in nature, spiritual practice, and healing. They also offer endless opportunities for beautiful illustrations and brand extensions in the future.
Packaging Design & Patterns
The packaging design was a key opportunity to visually communicate the healing power of the amethyst and the spiritual significance behind the brand. I drew from the geometry of crystal formations, particularly hexagons and crystal grids, when creating the design patterns for the packaging. The hexagon, which also connects to the structure of honeycombs, is a shape associated with balance and harmony in sacred geometry, reinforcing the calming purpose of the pillow.
Incorporating these geometric patterns helped build an additional layer of depth to the packaging. Each element works together to tell a visual story that is not just aesthetically appealing but imbued with meaning. The result is packaging that feels both modern and spiritually significant, perfectly aligned with B Sleepy’s mission of holistic healing.
Brochure Design & Photography
For the brochure, my goal was to weave the emotional narrative of B Sleepy into every page. I used a combination of calming imagery, warm lighting, and minimalistic layouts to evoke a sense of peace and comfort, highlighting the personal journey behind the product and its potential impact on customers.
The photography focused on creating an inviting, cozy bedroom atmosphere. I kept the styling natural and serene, with the amethyst pillow placed at the centre to symbolise tranquility within the home environment.
Social Media Content & Management
When it came to managing B Sleepy’s social media, my strategy was to maintain visual consistency with the brand’s calming aesthetic while telling the story behind the product. By using imagery that highlights the premium feel of the product and its connection to wellness and healing, we were able to engage with an audience that values both style and substance in their sleep products. Every post is designed to feel authentic, informative, and aligned with the brand’s purpose of bringing rest and relaxation to those who need it most.
This project was about more than just creating a visually appealing brand, it was about crafting an experience. From the amethyst-inspired palette to the sacred geometric patterns, every design choice was made to reflect B Sleepy’s core values: comfort, healing, and serenity. I’m proud to have worked on a brand that not only creates a meaningful product but also gives back, and I look forward to seeing how B Sleepy continues to bring rest and peace to its customers.
